The sun peeks out from behind a ledge and bathes the scene in glistening light. “Sun on the Way” is not only the imaginary caption for the cover photo, but also the title of the new album by the Andreas Hertel Quintet. A musical encourager in pandemic times. After the albums “My Kind of Beauty” and “Keepin‘ the Spirit ”(LAIKA Records), the Wiesbaden pianist proves his exceptional talent for catchy and at the same time profound, tasteful arrangements with his third long player in a quintet line-up. “My goal is to create timeless music that speaks to and touches its listeners with vocal melodies, emotions, natural flow and authentic immediacy. A symbiosis of virtuosity and good entertainment ”, is how the band leader sums up his artistic credo.
